After stepping down as the Hallé Orchestra’s Music Director at the end of the 2023/24 season, having achieved the highest musical standards, Sir Mark Elder is now its Conductor Emeritus, and we are fortunate indeed to have lured him to Bath Mozartfest once more. This time appearing on stage with pianist Imogen Cooper, long a favourite with Bath audiences, playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 27, the composer’s final, beautifully poetic piano concerto. The Hallé’s Bath programme will conclude with Dvořák’s 5th Symphony. Pastoral in tone and colour, this predominantly sunny symphony enthusiastically anticipates the composer’s Slavonic period.
