Piano Trio No 3 in F minor Op 65
Since forming in 2012, the Leonore Piano Trio has established itself as one of the UK’s most accomplished chamber groups conveying a wide range of musical styles in fresh and stylish performances. Here they begin with Haydn’s Piano Trio No 43 in C major, published in 1797 whilst Haydn was in England and part of a set dedicated to Mrs Therese Jansen Bartolozzi, an accomplished amateur pianist. This is a challenging piece shot through with wit and mischief. The Leonore players will complete their concert with Antonín Dvořák’s stormy Third Piano Trio, written shortly after the death of his beloved mother. It is a work of unexpected accents and cross-rhythms, full of raw emotion and ambitious ideas.
