The BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists Scheme helps to support talented musicians to reach the next stages of their careers, and brings some of the world’s most promising new talent to audiences and listeners across the UK through BBC Radio 3 broadcasts. This concert showcases the youthful talent nurtured by this important scheme, and this year we welcome The Kleio Quartet, First Prize and Commission Prize winners at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023 and recently appointed quartet in residence at the Royal Northern College of Music’s String Quartet Studio, and flautist Elizaveta Ivanova, Associate Principle Flute of the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra and First Prize winner at the Geneva International Music Competition 2023. They are joined by acclaimed NGA alumnus clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe, and award winning harpist Sally Pryce. This delightful Bath programme ranges widely from Mozart and Haydn in the classical period, across Europe and some 150 years, via Weber, to the late Romantic and early 20th century of Debussy and Ravel.
