Three profoundly thoughtful artists, each well known to Bath’s discerning audiences, come together in this concert to perform Schubert’s peerless Piano Trios, his expansive, infinitely rich, late works. Both scores, completed within a year of the composer’s untimely death at just 31, teem with exquisite lyrical themes and enchanting changes of mood. They require the highest levels of skill from all players: a genuine alliance and harmonious interaction of players who delight in the joy of musical collaboration, with no instrument dominant. Chamber music at its finest.
