Founded in 1997, the Carducci Quartet is today acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles with “playing of constant variety, a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose” The Strad. Here they will play Haydn’s Sunrise quartete, encapsulating the beauty of that time of day, a work which forms part of the composer’s rich harvest at the end of a long career writing for string quartets. Then Schubert’s sparkling, youthful, String Quartet No 10, a work thought to have initially been performed privately in the Schubert household earning its Haushaltung nickname.
